Colorguard
The
Colorguard
provides the 4-H members an opportunity to show patriotism and pride in
their club, county,state, nation, animals, and themselves. It allows
them to display their horsemanship and teamwork in performing as a unit
and presenting the colors.

Requirements The Colorguard
must be a six animal unit.
The
unit consists of the American Flag in the center, flanked on the left
by the 4-H flag and on the right by the Indiana State flag. An outrider
(guard) should be on each end carrying their hands alike. The point
rider ( the rider in front) should be
directly ahead of the American Flag and approximately one and one-half
horse lengths ahead of the unit. All flags should be held vertically.
The Indiana and 4-H flags should be of the same height, with the
American Flag 4-6 inches higher.
The American Flag should be handled with the utmost respect. Flag etiquette procedures shall be consistent with rules outlined in "Let's Be Right on Flag Etiquette" The unit is required to have the American Flag guarded (an animal within one horse lenth on each side) at all times and present the colors while standing at attention. ![]() |
